Staying Healthy? Try Some Immune Boosting Grapefruit!
In times of crisis, taking control of your own health can help you feel a bit more grounded. To that end, we’ve gathered some advice from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) that you can check out to get a handle on how best to approach this health crisis, and we have also included a special recipe that may help boost your immune system during these uncertain times.
Watch Out for Germs! (And Microbes, While You’re At It)
The best way to protect yourself from the coronavirus is to never come into contact with it at all. Avoid public spaces where people maybe who don’t know they’re sick.
The novel coronavirus is highly contagious, but, more importantly, it’s communicable for more than a week before there are any signs of sickness. Staying home and keeping your hands, countertops, and door nobs clean is the best line of defense.
If you’re trying to avoid catching a cold, what do you normally do? Keeping your body healthy and active is a great way to make sure your immune system can defend from illness or battle it when it hits. There are lots of ways we should take care of ourselves every day, not just when a health crisis hits.
Exercising while stuck indoors can definitely be a challenge. Try to schedule time to exercise every day. If it helps, think of it like a conference call or work assignment: it’s a priority. Exercises like lunges, sit-ups, squats, and jumping jacks can all be done in a relatively small space.
Getting ahold of healthy foods can also be a challenge during a crisis. Luckily, there are grocery stores, orchards, and businesses like Winter Sweetz who are still delivering. Try to get a good balance of fruits and vegetables stocked. These vitamin-filled produce will help you keep your immune system strong.
